Event Descriptions
Tuesday
ACM Workshop
We will be teaching others how to send data from an Arduino to a computer or other devices via Bluetooth.
Collaborating Orgs: ACM
Location: SSB 130
Times: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Contact: Adrian Darian - adarian@ucmerced.edu
Formula Building Workshop
Electric Cars are everywhere--now’s your chance to learn how they work! In this workshop, you’ll assemble and race your own RC car.
Collaborating Orgs: SAE and ESW
Location: California Room
Times: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Contact: Buraaq Alrawi - balrawri@ucmerced.edu
Small Workshops
Come One, Come All! To our mini engineering workshop. No engineering experience require. Spend time learning how to make mini inventions. Want to learn how to make mini rockets out of easy to find materials, that don’t require a license to launch. Maybe you might want to make a fast car with only a mousetrap and some CD’s. What about making a simple pinwheel or even a coin sorter to collect all your loose coins. If any of these interested, you then come down to our mini workshop on Tuesday 19 during E-Week and have fun.
Collaborating Orgs: STS and ESW
Times: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Contact: Luis Mendoza - lmendoza24@ucmerced.edu
Hackathon
Get ready, hackathon season is hitting Merced this March! A mini version will be held during E-Week starting tonight. Learn more and apply today at http://hackmerced.io
Collaborating Orgs: ACM, Hackathon, and ESW
Location: COB2 130
Times: 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM (Tuesday to Wednesday)

Wednesday
Fishbowl Workshop
“Aqua-what-now”
Aquaponics is the convening of hydroponics and aquaculture. ESW’s fish bowls serve as a budget project that displays how an aquaponics system works. This simple fish bowl simulates ESW’s large-scale project, where the organization attempts to construct an aquaponics farm in the greenhouses behind the school.
Collaborating Orgs: ESW
Location: California Room
Times: 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Contact: Arjun Kohli - akohli@ucmerced.edu
Prosthetic Arm Workshop
The Basics with Prosthetics
Wednesday 2/20/19 11am-1pm
Come learn how to build prosthetic limbs with basic materials such as cardboard.
Learn how to engineer solutions with limiting resources.
Collaborating Orgs: BMES
Location: California Room
Times: 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Contact: Steven Soe - ssoe@ucmerced.edu
Soldering Workshop
Soldering follows the essentials for engineering hands-on skills. Electrical Engineering (EE UCM), newest engineering organization on campus, hopes to instill these skills for participants in this workshop.
Location: SSB 160
Times: 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Contact: Sebastian Vasquez svazquez10@ucmerced.edu
Drone Workshop
Come learn how to fly drones! No prior experience required.
