Complete and submit your requests using the School of Engineering Master Student Form.
Form Categories & Guidance
Course Approval
Select the Course Approval option if you are requesting credit for:
- Summer courses taken at another institution.
- Courses taken abroad through UC EAP.
- Other unarticulated courses hosted by the School of Engineering.
Excess Units
Select the Excess Units option if you are requesting to take more than 18 units in a semester.
Eligibility Requirements:
- First-term students: Must have a 3.5 minimum GPA.
- Continuing students: Must have a 3.0 minimum GPA in their last two consecutive semesters.
Petition for Program Variance
Select the Petition for Program Variance option if you need to request any of the following:
- Permission to take a course prerequisite concurrently (at the same time) with the course.
- Substitution of a required course (UC Merced courses only).
- Substitution of a technical elective (UC Merced courses only).
Taking Classes at Another Institution (Limited)
Select the Taking Classes at Another Institution (Limited) option if you wish to petition to take classes at any institution outside of UC Merced.
(Note: If you plan to take classes specifically at Merced College, you may participate in the MC2UCM program instead.)
Subsequent Repeat Petition
Select the Subsequent Repeat Petition option if you need to request permission to attempt a School of Engineering course for a third or subsequent time.
